New paint, fresh carpet, and a fresh look will make our Resource Center a great asset for DACS. We want it to be a comfortable place to meet new friends and learn new skills. But materials need to be bought, and this is where you can help. A tax deductible donation will give us materials.
Let’s go back and remember what DACS means to us.
You turn to DACS to find resources about computers and technology. Maybe you value this community of people who are interested and skilled at computers. Maybe you want to learn more about certain software. Maybe you want to discuss issues that you are having with your computer. In any case, you appreciate that only a few cities in the United States have an award-winning computer society as active as DACS!
DACS provides all this at low cost to members, and we even provide some services such as our monthly General Meetings at no cost to the general public. How do we do this? We are an all-volunteer organization, and many people give freely of their time.
We use our Resource Center, located on Main Street of Danbury, for workshops and other events. We are fortunate to have this space that is provided, at no cost, by the City of Danbury (through the Housing Authority). Most volunteer organizations are constantly searching for locations to host their meetings, but the City has provided this space to us for 22 years.
Our volunteers renovated the Resource Center in 1994. Later, we added Wi-Fi and a computer projector. Now, twenty years later, it needs renovation again. The renovation will include rug replacement, paint, moldings, and new chairs. We cannot afford new carpet, but we already have a promised gift of lightly used carpet from Meadow Ridge, a retirement community in Redding. We have also lined up skilled volunteers to install the carpet, paint walls, fix moldings, and do other renovations. All we need is some money for materials.
We are launching a capital campaign for $1,500 for the materials toward this renovation. All work will be done by skilled volunteers.
