We missed the planned November meeting (entirely my fault) so January will be devoted to planning out the new year. What boards do we want to target? Should we discuss individual projects? Should we have a group project that we can all do together?
A possible group project might be a Raspberry Pi-based Internet radio. I live where the NPR stations are weak. Listening to these stations via their Internet stream would not only eliminate reception problems but allow listening to any NPR station anywhere in the country! Of course such a device would not be limited to NPR, in fact it would not be limited to radio. At the fundamental level, this is a simple project – just install some media center software on a Pi and we’re done. Right? Well not quite. We’ll need a user interface so we can change stations. Now the possibilities start to grow. Just to show what’s possible, here is an extreme example.
See you Thursday, January 19th at 7 pm in the Resource Center.
